Choosing our Role in the Revolution

The Y.oruba A.ssembly M.ovement was created as an extension of HRM Oba Adefunmi II's current reign and the continuation of the vision of the Father of the Cultural Restoration Movement, HRH Oba Adefunmi I. This national collective of youth and elders are walking in and toward the destiny of a renewed era of disciplined cultural codes of conduct.

The inaugural PAGA, (Pan African Grassroots Assembly) June 29-July 1, 2012  marks an unprecedented historic event in the convergence of pan africans, healers, educators, gardeners, writers, artists, good food revolutionaries, midwives and sacred activists seeking to forge agendas and strategic action plans.

The common point of intersection for Assembly attendents is
"Culture as the Chief Magistrate of one's destiny". In rebuilding our world packed full of choices for the next generation we must access sustainable choices, prioritize, create and be the innovators, cultural ambassadors, wayshowers of "thinking outside the box".

As the web of merchants, markets, craftpersons and tradesmen develop  better systems of exchange, larger discussions begin toward the legacies we are leaving for our children to inherit. What is our economic security and what type of economy are we building for our children.
More important and equally as necessary is the discipline to grow wisdom and the practical application of their cultural and spiritual inheritance in ways that will support, manifest and multiply abundance in their lives, families and households.

To this end, the marriage between the Assembly and the Odun Ifa brings to birth our current working definition of purpose and committment. True enough, these days....the most committed not only wins but raises the bar for the emerging leadership. Far beyond the candle, coconut and $16 dollars or 3200 cowries, we each have the opportunity to support the cosmic order to move us forward overcoming formidable opposition.

As in the story of Moses, reluctant to the task, asked..."Shall I really part the Red Sea?" And no ultimately he didn't, but was obedient to the will and voice within to show up, be accountable...allowing God/Goddess?Divinity to move through him.

And for every year that Noah pleaded with family, friends and neighbors to help build the ark...when the flood waters rose...not everyone was on it?

Our sacred contracts with Divinity, connected to our ancestral soul through the ascended Light energy of our holy mothers and fathers of yesterday and tomorrow grow stronger with guidance for the navigation of our life's journey.

This IS the hour....and we Are the ones we have been waiting for.

Raining in our spiritual disciplines

Eternally we are expanded in the wisdom shared in this tiny book authored by the man from Lebanon. We have come to the understanding in recent days that as the next generations by and large depart the language, customs, traditions and respect of their ancestors, the elders of the day move into the firece urgency of now, while maintaining a sense of dignity and decorum. Once we were comforted by a truth revealed through the statement....Compassion is the radical understanding of the lack of understanding. When there is lack, ignorance and fear, surely we are challenged to move out of the box of our self imposed restrictions or limitations and into the freedom and ease of our Divine selves having the human experience."

Raising the standard by which we Live, move and have our being is a birthright! Violence as a concept is outdated, that which we do to another, we do unto ourselves. As we bear witness to the rise and fall of many things, our tools, techniques, granny wit and technology of spiritual disciplines are by and large of the greatest assistance for navigating our way through. We are constantly updating our definition of definite purpose or in some cases we behold with great clarity the road of destiny that we are traveling.

Mindful of the ancestral safety net in quiet meditation and prayer, we are reassured of the divinity and divine purpose in all relationships, partnerships, plans and outcomes. As we move forward into the Wilderness of tribes in celebration of the Earth's deep connections to her children we are thankful to carry the hopes, dreams and aspirations of all the Kindred...present in other places, attentive to other missions.

"What shall I say of these save that they too stand in the Sunlight, but with their backs to the Sun? They see only their shadows, and their shadows are their laws. And what is the Sun to them but a caster of shadows? And what is it to acknowledge the laws but to stoop down and trace their shadows upon the earth?

But you who walk facing the Sun, what images drawn on the earth can hold you?

You who travel with the wind, what weather-vane shall direct your course?"

We are thankful of the prayers and support toward the global axe conference in Brazil...our workshops were NOT selected in the final round and we are still Thankful to the core of destiny chosen this Lifetime, lessons and revelations abound!

Each and every strand that we are weaving in this Kindred is infused with renewed dedication to living in harmony and balance with the Earth, each other and all our relations. Our greatest opposition to achieving these goals is in a word- dis-connection. Humanity’s lack of connection to nature, a collective consciousness and compassion is more than evident in the code of conduct that no longer supports wholistic or sustainable living skills.

The Kindred of Sangoma is about the business of building bridges, making the cultural repairs to our ancestral souls that re-generate our abilities and will to live, work and prosper together. The way forward is revealed by activating all that is sacred to our basic survival. Living life from a place of apathy, complicity, neglect or ignorance is no longer an option. The innovators, bioengineers and revolutionaries of the 21st century require and must master the skills of a global viewpoint. While this new level of advanced citizenship is not easy, the elders told us whatever is really worth fighting for is never easy.

The very nature of Kindred defined here as our “next of kin”, crosses racial, cultural, spiritual and mental divides. A house divided will not stand. Needless to say the house of our humanity is falling and destroying all life within. The roof has been ripped away, the walls are crumbling and the foundation is terribly weak. The love of Kindred rebuilds, recycles and remembers the Sacred in all that we do and say. Sacred Activism is the act of making all things sacred. Our greatest reflection of the Divine within inspires each other with hope and determination to cherish the ark of our survival, securing a better world for the generations yet to be born.

Let us now give recognition to the fact that all forgiveness is self forgiveness, the removal of our own emotional toxins. Great things happen when we embrace forgiveness at deeper levels such as the strengthening of our desire and ability “to walk a mile in the moccassins of another”. We become vulnerable and humble enough to reflect the adversity/inner conflict ...in order for it to be healed.

Wisdoms from a holistic /shamanic point of view then reveals the doorways to ritual ! “Just as our bodies can't survive without nourishment, our psyches cannot sustain themselves without symbolism....a key element of ritual is symbolism.” The primary tool of spiritual technology for the cultural activist is also very noticeably...symbols.

So what is ritual?

Malidoma Some defines ritual as...”any and every time a gathering of people, under the protection of Spirit, triggers a body of emotional energy aimed at bringing them very tightly together, a ritual of one type or another is in effect. In this kind of gathering, people primarily use nonverbal means of interacting with one another, thereby stimulating the life of the psyche.”

There are two major parts to most ritual, one part is planned around the space, geography and other logistics of the ritual and the other... is moved by Spirit.

This unplanned element of the ritual, activating the Sacred, is spontaneous, most times unpredictable, but definitely a level of interaction with Source energy. “It is a response to a call from a nonhuman source to commune with a larger horizon. It is like a journey. Before you started, you own the journey. After you start, the journey owns you.”

This dark Moon in Libra calls each of us to re-calibrate the scale, bringing balance to the equation of our destiny. “No matter what happens in our past-the elevation of our consciousness, releases the metal and emotional toxins by choice! In this time and season of transformation of our world reality, it is imperative that we make new/different choices. Choices for champs, rather than chumps!

The Evolutionary Manifesto, penned by John Stewart, a member of the Evolution, Complexity and Cognition Research Group from the Free University, amplifies and emphasizes that the current phase of evolution we are experiencing should and is being driven intentionally by humanity. John's point is well made in the 34 page document is to anything less is the demise of a failed evolutionary experiment.

In each moment, we are evolving, eyes and heart wide open, in the absolute priviledge and gratitude for witnessing and participating in the universe's conspiracy to move us all to our Highest potential and collective destiny....”That would be here, that would be us and that would be now”.
